Novena's Series: Email Four

Reader

Thank you for following along this tradition that is very close to my heart. I hope you have a head start in your editorial calendar for 2025!

As the year winds down, I’ve been reflecting on how grateful I am for the incredible people I’ve had the chance to connect with in 2024—including nonprofit leaders and changemakers like you.

Thank you for your work to make this world a better place. It’s been an honour to have conversations with you and to share ideas about how to create even more impact.

I hope you rest and recharge this holiday season and enjoy moments of joy and connection with those you care about.

I wanted to share with you my virtual holiday card

Here’s to continuing the great work we’ve started and making 2025 an even brighter year for the causes we care about.

In case you missed the previous emails:

DAY ONE
DAY TWO
DAY THREE
DAY FOUR
DAY FIVE AND SIX
DAY SEVEN
DAY EIGHT

And in case you are wondering what is all of this about:
I am originally from Colombia, and this tradition starts today, Dec 16th. It’s called Novenas, and we gather with families and friends to sing Christmas carols with different instruments. I like this tradition because you get to go to a friend’s or relative's place every night for nine days and spend some quality time together.

In honour of this tradition that I miss very much (I live in Canada, and Novenas aren’t a thing here), from December 16th to December 24th, I will send you one quick email giving your content ideas for your social media editorial calendar in 2025.

So, for this time together, you can either get the editorial calendar template here or follow along with my example calendar here. Or do both.

DAY NINE: December: End-of-Year Fundraiser

Theme
: Giving Back and Making a Lasting Impact.

  • Content Ideas:
    • Launch a heartfelt campaign emphasizing the impact donations have on your mission, with a clear call-to-action for year-end giving.
    • Share a video or graphic highlighting what the organization has accomplished this year, thanks to supporters, and how more contributions can help in the coming year.
    • Use social proof: Post testimonials or stories from beneficiaries or donors about why your cause matters.
    • Run a countdown campaign with daily updates or goals, building urgency as the year ends (e.g., “Only 3 days left to make a difference!”).
    • Promote matching gift opportunities or donor challenges to maximize contributions.

Please keep in mind that these are quick ideas to get you started. I recommend you adapt them to your organization's events and milestones you want to highlight throughout the year. For example, if you run a fundraiser in the spring, consider it and work around it.

Reader, Thank you again for joining me in this tradition. It has been a pleasure to share a bit of your family with you.

See you in 2025!

Best,

Marcela

I help nonprofits give their mission the visibility they deserve through various marketing strategies. I am a seasoned marketing expert with a track record in digital advertising, content and email marketing strategies; I bring more than ten years of experience in the nonprofit sector. Clients value my ability to see the big picture and create practical, executable marketing strategies. My transformative digital initiatives in a previous role with Brown Bagging For Calgary’s Kids boosted new website visitors by 141 percent and website engagement by 130 percent. I also grew their online community by almost 20 percent across all social media platforms and generated hundreds of leads through targeted Google and Facebook ads. As a creative thinker with a growth mindset, I love bringing ideas to life through painting, drawing, and dreaming. I offer Fractional Marketing support for nonprofits looking to: Increase awareness Boost fundraising efforts Build a thriving community of supporters. Reduce stress and workload. Execute strategic and consistent marketing efforts. Fractional marketing gives small and medium-sized nonprofits access to the expertise of a seasoned marketer on a part-time (fractional) basis. It's for organizations looking to enhance their marketing efforts with a small budget, and that means hiring inexperienced staff who require more effort and time to manage. marcela@marcelazafra.com www.marcelazafra.com
